Let the People’s Voice be Heard

On March 20, a joint workshop was held by the Bangkok Public Policy Driving Center of the National Health Commission Office and the Duang Prateep Foundation, at DPF headquarters. Participants included leaders from 26 communities, representatives from the Areeruk Primary Care Clinic, local politicians and NGOs. Topics up for discussion were “Public Space for the Health of People in Klong Toey” and also “The Eviction Problem”.

In the workshop, participants presented their requirements for development and solving problems in accordance with the needs of the local people, and to start building participation for developing policy proposals in seven areas: 1. Health promotion, 2. Housing, 3. Education, 4. Environment 5. Security in life & property, 6. Economic development, and 7. Social development. Khru Prateep talked about the background and importance of developing this 7-area policy in the Klong Toey area.

The people’s needs will be presented to the Bangkok Governor in March 31 at Bangkok City Hall.
