Fire Prevention and Control project

Background

One problem of the Khlong Toei slum community is fire on average 5-6 times a year.

Duang Prateep Foundation joins with the community leaders to set up a project. “Khlong Toei Resist Fire Project” in 1990. There are volunteers rotating on duty to watch out for fires. In 1994, the name was changed to “Fire Prevention and Control Project” supports the work of "Khlong Toei Disaster Mitigation Center".

Policies

       Safe communities, Fire-fighter volunteers have knowledge, understanding of fire and disaster prevention

Objectives:

               1. To protect the community safe from fire

               2. To support the work of fire-fighter volunteers 

   3. To give understanding to students, youths and community people on fire control & protection

Working areas: Fire control area, helping the sick people, accidents, catching poisonous animals, etc.

Operation

Not only taking care of fire prevention, it also includes assistance in floods, storms, or even road accidents. In addition, training is given to the center's volunteers and those interested, including sending patients to medical facilities. and provide services for catching poisonous animals and other hardships that residents/agencies request to come to the 24-hour operation center

             1. Support the work of volunteers at the disaster relief center, such as fire extinguishing equipment, fuel for fire truck, vehicle repair costs, food expenses, etc.

             2. Support increasing knowledge, skills for volunteers

             3. Support training for children, youths, and community members about fire control and prevention.

Networks: Fire Relief Units at Wat Khlong Toei Nai Community, Lock 1-3 Community, Lock 4-6 Community, New Development Community

Project support needs include:

1. Support fire extinguishing equipment such as fire extinguishers and lighting equipment, Ambulance’s equipment for helping patients

2. Budget for training the community members on "Basic of stop fire "
