On February 11, the Duang Prateep Kindergarten joined a school safety project implemented by the office of the Bangkok Governor, entitled “Safe Schools, Fire-Free with Innovations from Food Waste”. A key innovation of this project is a research and development initiative aimed at adding value to food waste by repurposing discarded oyster shells into a high-quality flame retardant to enhance the safety of school buildings. The event was presided over by the Deputy Governor of Bangkok, Associate Professor Thawida Kamolwech, who spoke at length with the students, and also observed a fire evacuation drill at the kindergarten. The drill was conducted by the Head of the Klong Toey Fire and Rescue Station, Mr. Mongkol Kakaew, and his team, who also provided fire emergency preparedness training for the teaching staff, with support from the DPF’s own firefighting team. This event was made possible through the collaboration and support of the Director of the Klong Toey District Office and his team, as well as the executives and staff of the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park Hotel, Bayer Co., Ltd., and the National Nanotechnology Center.
